Melbourne duo Slum Sociable have released their new uptempo and dance ready summer single, “Afterthought”. The track, out now via Liberation Records is striking, combining a playful sound with slightly melancholic lyrics, all of which shine thanks to Miller Upchurch‘s impressive vocals.
Full of drum machines and synthesisers, “Afterthought” is a summer-party-ready track that is almost impossible not to dance to. The duo teamed up with Kim Moyes of The Presets and Producer Konstantin Kersting (The Jungle Giants, Mallrat) to help create the single. Here’s what the band had to say about the track:
“The concept behind Afterthought is simple yet universal, we’ve all had moments where we wish we’d done things differently, and looking back on them can be frustrating. So I channelled my frustrations of not acting sooner into this song.”
The new track follows on from previous singles “Can’t Figure It Out” and “Do Something About It”, both of which having received a tremendous response and close to 2.5 million streams. These impressive tracks follow the duo’s acclaimed self titled debut album, which has now collected over 15 million streams.
New track “Afterthought” also comes just in time for the Melbourne duo’s First Annual Slum Sociable Xmas Special, which is set to be held at the Corner Hotel on December 13th. The headline show will feature a fantastic lineup of special hometown guests and will be the duo’s first live appearance since the middle of the year.
