We’re big fans of Yungblud (Dominic Harrison) here at the AU, so we were pretty stoked to discover the British multi-instrumentalist had teamed up with the acclaimed singer-songwriter Halsey and Blink 182’s Travis Barker for new single “11 Minutes”.
The track, a hypnotic track combining moody guitar work and quality high powered drumming, features a host of quality behind the scenes too. With the song’s fellow producers and songwriters, Matt Schwartz, Zakk Cervini and Chris Greatti having worked with the likes of Cold War Kids, Good Charlotte, Kylie Minogue and more.
Halsey and Yungblud’s vocal duet presents the listener with the story of a couple who self-sabotage their relationship due to societal pressures before it’s even really had a chance to get off the ground. Talking about “11 Minutes”, Yungblud explained: “The song tells the story of a perfect tragedy that reflects modern love within our society. We are so distracted and focused on what’s next, we can fail to see what is actually in front of us. We don’t realise how much we need something until it’s taken away from us.”
Listening to the single it’s pretty clear that these three artists work pretty well together, with Yungblud confirming, “Working with Halsey and Travis was a fucking dream – at the end of the day we’re all rock kids.” Yungblud’s Australian tour wrapped up last night at Perth’s Badlands Bar, but with much of the tour sold out, I don’t think we’ll have to wait too long for him to head back our way.
“11 Minutes” is available now via Locomotion / Geffen Records. You can find Yungblud on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
