Scottish indie darlings Belle & Sebastian are busy working on the original soundtrack for upcoming Brit film Days of the Bagnold Summer, and have given us the first taste of what that project will sound like with lead single “Sister Buddha”.
Glowing, summer-ready pop rock seems to be the direction if this gorgeous tune is anything to go by, syncing up nicely with the film’s plot which revolves around a tender coming-of-age story lifted from a graphic novel by Joff Winterhart.
The soundtrack will feature a mix of new material as well as classics from the band’s back catalogue, including highlights taken from 1996 seminal LP If You’re Feeling Sinister.
From its moments of buttery jazz theatrics to its poetic lyrics of love and strength, “Sister Buddha” is definitely a recall of the band’s vitality even after all these years. Check its monochrome music video out below and keep you’re ears out for the Days of the Bagnold Soundtrack when it’s released mid-September.
