Following the very welcome, exciting and just all-round amazing news that Samuel L Jackson will become the first celebrity voice rolled out for Amazon’s virtual assistant Alexa, the ginormous company has announced a trio of new Echo devices for later this year.
The announcement comes with a range of new Alexa features which will be rolling out on all enabled devices, tweaking the voice assistant so it can easily learn to respond to its users daily routines, produce insight into the voice assistant process, and be toggled to automatically delete voice data on an ongoing basis.
As for devices, they start with a substantial fabric and sound upgrade to the standard Echo (AU$149), which will come with more colour options to suit design preferences and be able to pump out more robust sonic profiles with a 3-inch woofer, increased back volume, and clearer highs and mids.
Next up is the Echo Dot with clock (AU$99), the most affordable of the bunch which takes the classic Echo Dot and makes it more functional with a simple, bright LED display that can also inform users of outdoor temperature in addition to the regular smart clock functions.
Amazon’s most exciting new devices sits at the higher end, that being the Echo Studio (AU$329) which promises to be the best sounding Echo to date, with five built-in directional speakers aimed at providing premium sound with space, clarity and depth. And there’s little doubt that it will be able to deliver, with a powerful 5.25″ woofer, 330W of peak power, 1″ tweeter, three 2″ midrange speakers, and a 24-bit DAC.
The new Echo devices are available for pre-order from HERE and will start shipping later this year.
