Join Margaret Atwood for a literary evening on her 2020 Australian Tour

Award-winning author Margaret Atwood will be making her way down to Australia early next year for a series of ‘In Conversation’ events across the country.

Margaret Atwood is the author of more than fifty books of fiction, poetry and critical essays. Her novels include Cat’s EyeThe Robber BrideAlias GraceThe Blind Assassin and the MaddAddam Trilogy. Her 1985 classic The Handmaid’s Tale went back into the bestseller charts with the election of Donald Trump, when the Handmaids became a symbol of resistance against him, and with the 2017 release of the eponymous award-winning TV series.

Working in collaboration with FANE, Andrew Kay, Phil Bathols, and BBC Studios Australia the events are designed as a celebration of the global publication phenomenon: The Testaments. If you’ve managed to miss all of the buzz this year (how?!) The Testaments is the highly anticipated sequel to the seminal work, The Handmaid’s Tale.

Though it’s not just about Gilead, the evening will also feature work from Atwood’s remarkable and diverse career, as well as going some way to answering why she returned to the fictional world of Gilead thirty-four years later.

Margaret Atwood said: I am so happy to be returning to Australia, where I have spent much time in the past, and where readers have always been so warm and welcoming.”

The tour will commence in Sydney on February 16th 2020, before travelling to Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart and Perth. Ticket pre-sales commence at midday on Monday 25th November, with general sales kicking off at midday Friday 29th November.

As part of a special initiative, on the day of each show twenty-five free tickets will be released for each performance to Under-25s.
