Taking place at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on Sunday 16th February, “Fire Fight Australia” is yet another massive concert aimed at raising necessary funds to help the country recover from the ongoing bushfires. Announced today, the first batch of artists helping make this a monumental event include Queen, K.d Lang, Alice Cooper and Olivia Newton-John.
The concert will be hosted by none other than Aussie comedian Celeste Barber, who made headlines last week for starting a world record breaking Facebook fundraiser that has skyrocketed to over $50 million.
Rounding out the incredible line-up is the likes of Delta Goodrem, who will premiere a newly released song she wrote about the bushfires called “Let it Rain”, Grinspoon, Hilltop Hoods, Icehouse, Illy, John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite, Peking Duk, Tina Arena, Amy Shark, Baker Boy and more.
Tickets, priced at $70-$100 are now on sale at ticketek.com.au with more artists to be announced in the coming weeks. The concert will kick off at 1pm and wrap up around 10pm.
All concert ticket profits and contributions through Ticketek will be donated directly to several key organisations providing vital rescue, relief & recovery, and rehabilitation efforts during and after the crisis. These include rural and regional fire services, Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery, and RSPCA Bushfire Appeal.
It is reported that exclusive on-stage collaborations and a more surprises are highly likely, and organisers are hoping to broadcast the concert in Australia and live stream in to the world, with a fundraiser.
Note that Fire Fight Australia (TEG Dainty and TEG Live) is a completely separate event to the already announced Sound Relief 2020 (Live Nation). The latter has yet to announce their line-up, but we’re expecting some big things given the 2009 edition was packed with big names like Coldplay, Barry Gibb, Taylor Swift and Kings of Leon.
