We have a really beautiful Track of the Day today coming from Gold Coast indie rock band, Chutney. It’s called “Gone On Time”, and we’ve been totally crushing on this tune since it turned up in our inbox. The guitars on this track are ever so sweet, complimenting and contrasting the earthy vocals. The band formed late last year, initially as a side project to their other ventures, but they quickly realised that they had stumbled upon something special. They describe their influences as being Catfish & The Bottlemen, Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes.
The band describes the genesis of the song:
“‘Gone On Time’ represents the conscious uncoupling that occurs when you realise you are out of balance within a relationship, and that what was there was never meant to be. Musically inspired by the nostalgic major 7th’s of Sticky Fingers and Tom Misch combined with the guitar stylings of John Mayer, we are very proud of what this track ended up sounding like when compared to the three year old demos that are still sitting on guitarist Cal’s phone.”
The four members of the band hailed from other bands on the Gold Coast, namely Augusta, Hot Coffee and the Stingin’ Rogers. They plan on releasing an EP in the coming months, and have a love of playing live, so keep an eye out from them on the East Coast. They are bound to be popping up.
In the meantime, enjoy “Gone On Time”
