Sydney-side indie-dance-pop quartet Pirra are back with a new release, “The Peak”. It has a fun feverish energy that is bound to put a smile on your face. It’s just what we need after a seemingly inexhaustible stream of bad news recently. “The Peak” is a great follow-up to their previous track, “Under the Skyline”
Jess Beck on vocals explains that the song was written on the comedown, after a massive weekend of partying. “We’d all been left feeling like wet paper bags after having one of those once in a lifetime weekends. So, in days that followed it was almost medicinal to write a song about those surreal moments even though at the time those feelings were in pretty stark contrast”
“The Peak” was produced with UK legend Roy Kerr (London Grammar, Aurora, Paul McCartney). He has high praise indeed for this band, saying “Pirra are that rare gem, storytellers with a love for the dance floor. The Peak bounces and bubbles to an almighty peak. It’s like the communal journey of a great DJ set. My involvement in Pirra’s journey continues to be one of my most rewarding projects to date”.
On top of the high praise, they’ve recently signed with UK label Cr2 Records through their imprint BLK&WHT. This puts them in the same stable as Carol Cox and Gerd Janson. It’s fair to say that Pirra seems to be heading in the right direction.
Check out the video and have a listen. This tune is bound to get the dancefloor moving.
