Last night, in front of a packed industry crowd at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, the 2011 J Awards winners were announced, and Gotye was crowned the big winner of the night – winning the J Award for Australian album of the year after Art Vs Science belted out their hit single “A.I.M Fire!”, which was coincidentally nominated for best Australian music video of the year.
The winner in that category went to Hermitude for “Speak of the Devil”, the video of which you can view below, alongside the full list of nominees. Meanwhile, the Unearthed artist of the year went to Ball Park Music. The crowd also enjoyed a brief acoustic performance from the wonderful Big Scary.
The AU Review congratulates all the winners – what an amazing year of Australian music!
