"Lemonade Stand" wins the 2012 Tropfest in Sydney.

As the rain poured and the lightning could be seen in the distance, the winners of the 20th Anniversary of Tropfest were announced by an impressive group of judges that included Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush and Toni Collette.

Winning the competition was “Lemonade Stand”, by Director Alethea Jones of Melbourne.

Coming in second was “Boo!” by Sydney director Rupert Reid, and third prize went to “Photo Booth” by Queensland director Michael Noonan.

Best Male Actor was awarded to Don Reid, the lead actor in Rupert Reid’s “Boo” and Kate McNamara won Best Female Actor for her role in “Kitchen Sink Drama”.

Marie Patane took out the Moet & Chandon Women In Film Award and Jason van Genderen won First Place in the Telstra Mobile Masterpieces competition with his film “The 53rd Hour”.

You’ll be able to watch all the shortlisted entries on a DVD supplied with this weekend’s Sydney Morning Herald – though the winner can be watched above!
