the AU interview: Treatment (Sydney) talk The Farmer and The Owl Festival.

Sydney band Treatment are set to play at The Farmer and The Owl Festival in Wollongong this weekend! They take some time to answer our questions and introduce themselves to you before they play alongside the likes of The Drones and Dappled Cities on Saturday.

Who are you and where are you from?

We are Treatment and we hail from Sydney.

Tell us about your latest release(s); where we can find it and what we can expect from it!

Our last release was a split 7″ with our mates from Melbourne, Midnight Woolf. We love the Midnight Woofle’s tune “Upsize My Love”, was great to have it on a split with us. Out on the amazing Tym Records, great label…

If a music video, where did the concept come from and tell us a bit about it!

That’ll be next year – we are working on something similar to Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball”.

If a single/album, where did you record and who did you work with?
We recorded at Hanging Tree, engineered by Rick Ruben (also known as Tim Dunne) and mixed at Boy Howdy Beer Can by RKH…

How do you and your band (where applicable) generally write your music? Is there a head songwriter, do you collab together etc?

Bit of both, but manly Matt and his garage middle finger.

What can we expect from your performance at Farmer and the Owl?

Nudity.

Who are you looking forward to seeing at the event?

The Laurels, The Walking Who, The Drones, Dappled Cities, Surf City, ABBA…

How important are events like this to areas like Wollongong?

It’s really important, not only for Wollongong, but for Australian music.

Talk us through some of your highlights from 2013!

The highlight of 2013 would definitely be being asked by Mudhoney to support them on their European/ UK Album tour. Other than being accosted by Swedish customs and teased by the Italian police for being too high, the Europeans treated us with the same respect as Mudhoney. You really don’t get that often in Australia. They had so much enthusiasm and passion for garage rock. Also the Mudhoney fellas were absolute gentlemen as always. Between playing in an artist commune in Denmark to a 200 year old totally packed basement venue in Prague, we had a ball.

What can we expect from you in 2014?

An appearance on the X Factor.

What’s your favourite Australian release of 2013 (so far)?

BatpissNuclear Winter.
Melbourne band, chaotic sounds, awesome tunes.
Best enjoyed when nude.

Your favourite international release of 2013?

Night BeatsSonic Bloom
Seattle based band, killer tunes great sound.
