Brisbane's Conrad Sewell helps open Spotify House at SXSW

The annual celebration that is Spotify House returned to SXSW today, for the start of no less SIX days of live music, free food, free drinks and something called “SoulCycle”, which seems to include live music and a bunch of exercise bikes… you may have to head along to find out for yourself, should you be in Austin this week! Helping ring in the first day was Brisbane artist Conrad Sewell, who in just a couple of days will be returning to Australia to perform around the country with Ed Sheeran.

Going simply by Conrad on a billing that also included Stromae, Amason, Centavrvs and more, the emerging singer/songwriter proved he had an impressive voice on him, coming to the stage playing solo on the keys before inviting his full band onto the stage.

Mixing pop and dance with soul and gospel, the talented artist (who recently became a part of Lyor Cohen’s 300 Entertainment label), comes to SXSW off the back of his just released single “Hold Me Up”, which he played along with a taste of the material you’ll be sure to hear him play when he opens up for Sheeran later this month. And given how well the sound went down in the outdoor venue today, you can be sure he’ll impress more than a few faces at those shows…
