As if they weren’t already busy enough, South African rap-rave group Die Antwoord have managed to squeeze time in between touring Europe and preparing for Future Music Festival to make an appearance in Sony’s upcoming release Chappie.
The movie is based in a time where crime is patrolled by an oppressive mechanised police force and now people are fighting back. Chappie is the first police droid with the ability to think and feel for himself, after being stolen and reprogrammed. Die Antwoord members Ninja and Yo-Landi star as themselves, raising the robot as their own. But as powerful, destructive forces start to see Chappie as a danger to mankind, they’ll do anything they can to ensure he is the last of his kind.
In this special featurette, watch Ninja and Yo-Landi discuss what it’s like to have a role designed specifically for them, and listen in as producer Simon Kinberg and director Neill Blomkamp say what makes the duo so special.
Chappie will be released in theatres March 12, and stars Hugh Jackman, Sharlto Copley and Dev Patel.
When they’re not appearing in robot sci-fi movies, Die Antwoord are killing it in the music industry. The duo are about to tour Australia for Future Music Festival, starting this weekend in Sydney!
