Sitting alongside one of the world’s best music festivals, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Primavera Pro has spent the last decade growing into a leading industry conference that leveraged the large amount of industry that was finding its way through the city to attend the iconic festival – which was supposed to celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.
Sound will now be waiting until June 2nd to 6th, 2021 to mark that milestone, but the conference will still take place this year – moving to a free online edition running July 21st to the 24th, simultaneously launching a platform that will see regular content produced throughout the year. The conference will sit under the appropriate theme “What’s next?” and will directly address the difficulties the industry is currently facing.
While the conference programme will be free, those who had already purchased a delegate pass will be given access to special content as well a private networking opportunities – and new guests, from Australia and around the world, will have the option to purchase a pass for the same privilege.

The full statement from the event has been pasted below.
To go in search of music. That has been the objective of Primavera Pro since day one. The music sector conference was born to offer a space for dialogue in parallel to the celebration of Primavera Sound Barcelona, consolidating its position over the last ten years as a key meeting point for professionals from around the world. And now, more than ever, we believe that it is necessary to be true to that initial mission: music must meet, no matter where.
As announced on May 11th, the state of emergency caused by COVID-19 has forced the postponement of Primavera Sound Barcelona, which will celebrate its twentieth anniversary from June 2nd to 6th, 2021. It is only one of the many events affected by the pandemic, placing the world of music in one of the most complex positions in its history.
In this scenario, Primavera Pro cannot take a hiatus and is moving into the online universe. So, the conference is adding a platform to its structure that will bring together an international community of people interested in looking at every angle of the music environment. Throughout the year, content will be offered that analyses the up-to-the-minute issues in the sector, as well as networking possibilities that will take shape again in the face-to-face event in Barcelona, when we can meet (and dance) together again.
The first step of this new project will be the online edition that Primavera Pro will celebrate between 21st and 24th July, under the very pertinent leitmotif: “What’s next?”. The programming of round tables and conversations will invite speakers and accredited attendees to venture out and imagine what transformations will take place in the world of music over the new decade. An era marked by a pandemic that has only accelerated the challenges and opportunities that come with all times of change. Showcases, mentoring sessions, workshops and other usual activities will adapt to the possibilities offered in the digital environment, proposing an experience with all the hallmarks of Primavera Pro.
The international projection at Primavera Pro goes hand in hand with the commitment it has with its roots in Barcelona, actively working on the growth of the musical fabric in Catalonia. Aware of the blow that COVID-19 has caused, the event will carry out various actions that will support and give voice to several local artists and initiatives. These will be conceived in close collaboration with Catalan Arts, the internationalization brand for cultural companies promoted by the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC).
The conference programme will be available live and free of charge via the Primavera Pro site. Delegate passes purchased for Primavera Pro 2020 will give access to the contents of the online programme; both live and recorded, as well as to a private networking area, and will also be valid for the 2021 edition of Primavera Pro and Primavera Sound Barcelona. In addition, specific passes will be put on sale to access all the online content of Primavera Pro 2020. People who wish to request the refund for the accreditations already purchased will be able to do so starting next Wednesday, June 3rd, the day when first names for Primavera Sound Barcelona 2021 will be announced.
We invite you to follow and participate in the activities of this exceptional edition of Primavera Pro: a new chapter that also opens a window onto everything that is to come and that will mark the way in which we will listen to and experience music tomorrow.
