With the release of the debut album Hopefuls all set for next month, let us introduce you to The Harriets. Fronted by lead vocalists Daniel Parker-Smith and Ben Schrodel, The Harriets are a Leeds-based alternative rock/pop four-piece. Live, they’re joined by Jess Womack (keys) and Ryan Bailey (drums).
The band head towards the release of their debut album riding high. 2019 saw them shortlisted for both Glastonbury Emerging Talent and Record Store Day Unsigned. They’ve also become something of a regular feature at BBC Introducing showcase nights as well.
It’s easy to see why too. Recent singles “Cafe Disco” and the new release “Trip To The Moon” are stylish slices of alternative pop. Full of warmth and with a healthy nod to the classics, there’s a lot of love about these recent singles. The Harriets are by no means a retro band, but it’s hard to argue that their music won’t appeal to fans of the likes of Tom Petty, Paul McCartney and others. They’re very much their own band, but there’s something of a “classic rock” sensibility to the songwriting that is really appealing.
The band’s debut album, Hopefuls, releases July 24th. Pre-order a copy HERE. Until then give “Trip To The Moon” a stream or two below.
