In the 29th installment of ‘Stumbled Upon’, we meet Perth’s HYLA and chat about their second EP and working towards a full length album.
Band Name:
HYLA
Website / Social Media:
Facebook / Soundcloud
Genre:
Garage, shoegaze, dream noise pop
Members & their roles:
Rob -bass, Mike -guitar, Darren-drums, Alex -guitar/vocals
What music or artists inspired you?
Spiritualized, Ride, The Verve, The Byrds, Warlocks
How did the band get started?
We were friends for 10 years or so and always playing music but never had played in a group together, I wrote a bunch of demos and it seemed like getting the guys in to make the songs happen was the most obvious thing to do. That was just over a year ago.
How would you best describe your live show:
Unpredictable, lacking dance moves, frustrating at times 🙂
What shows do you have coming up?
Keep an eye on Facebook for more dates.
Tell us about your latest release:
It’s our second EP, we spent a bit more time on this one recording at Pink Eye which is basically Rob and Mike’s house. The songs are a little more cohesive now and closer to where the band is heading for our first album
Where can I get your music?
Bandcamp, iTunes and Soundcloud. I’m pretty sure you can also stream the first EP on all the regulars.
