What music or artists inspired you?
I have always loved the singer-songwriters of the 1960’s – Bob Dylan, Donovan, Paul Simon, John Lennon, Tom Waits. Contemporary folk-rock bands such as The Decemberists, Mumford and Sons and the Lumineers have taught me how to write folk music that has a modern sound.
How did you get started?
It’s hard to say when I started exactly. I’ve been singing and playing guitar for over 20 years but it’s only in the past couple of years that I started writing and performing my own material.
How would you best describe your live show:
Peaceful, soulful acoustic-folk.
What shows do you have coming up?
I’m usually playing somewhere in Melbourne every week. Fave haunts include Baxter’s Lot in Fitzroy, The Drunken Poet in the city, the Balaclava Hotel in Balaclava and Mr Boogieman Bar in Collingwood. My website keeps you up to date with all my latest gigs.
Keep an eye on Facebook for more dates.
Tell us about your latest release:
Pales with Grace is my debut album. Produced by Dave Flett with contributions from Suzie Dickinson, Pete Fidler, Ross Hannaford and Ron Mahony. It’s a very personal and somewhat nostalgic collection of tracks that draws heavily from my roots in the North of England.
Where can I get your music?
You can order CDs from my website; download from iTunes, Google+, Spotify etc; buy over the counter at Basement Discs in Melbourne or come see me at the end of a gig.
