UK-born and bred, but now a local of Byron Bay, Meg Hitchcock is launching her debut single and video, and we are thrilled to be able to offer the first view and listen of “Hello Moon”, a soulful shimmering love song to the moon. It’s also an affirmation on living the life she wants to live, reconnecting to nature.
“Hello Moon” has the feel of a big 80’s hit – with Hitchcock hitting the high-notes with ease. Driving beats complement her towering soulful vocals. This is an exciting debut, and I wait with interest to see what this talented songwriter and producer will release next.
Like so many English natives, Hitchcock came out to Australia to experience its charms and found herself in Byron Bay. This evidently appealed, and she found herself having an extended stay there. Eventually, the call to the motherland took her back home, and it was there that she found the inspiration for “Hello Moon”.
As Hitchcock explains “One night I had walked to get groceries, and on my return, as I turned the corner, there, proud in the sky, was the shining full moon. In awe and disbelief, a tear ran down my cheek. I felt completely disconnected to nature.”.
An invitation to play at the Tasmanian festival Party In The Paddock drew her back to Australia. Despite having a ticket to return back to the UK, Hitchcock chose to stay and has settled down with her music family back in Byron Bay.
Check out the video as well, it has a ghoulish Rocky Horror theme to it, just the accompaniment to a full moon. Hitchcock evidently enjoys the theatrical and horror genres, and this video has it in spades.
“Hello Moon” is released on all digital platforms on Friday, 14th August 2020.
