Melbourne’s Winterpark is excited to announce the release of his long awaited third album Sunday Morning. Winterpark is the studio project for Matt Ridgway, a multi-talented musician who has written, recorded and produced all of the tracks on the forth coming LP to create a cohesive and atmospheric collection of melody and sounds.
Winterpark will be launching the first single “The Night Beetle” on Thursday July 21st at the Dear Patti Smith gallery in Fitzroy. To coincide with the release of the album Winterpark has teamed up with 14 local & international artists who have each given their creative interpretation to the songs.
The exhibition, which runs from Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd of July boasts a range of photographs, paintings, installations and new media, each created in response to a selected track from Sunday Morning.
The debut single “The Night Beetle”, is a retro-pop number, inspired by the wildlife of the same name that live in Matt’s overgrown back yard. The track has also been remixed by French-Canadian extraordinaire Antoine Bédard aka Montag, who gives “The Night Beetle” a Postal-Service-esque treatment, whilst keeping the original versions psychedelic edge.
Winterpark has recently gained momentum, and further broadened his fan base, after the heartfelt single “Never Alone” from 2007’s One Night Alone, was featured in an poignant episode of Channel Ten’s Offspring, and last week took out the 15th spot on the ARIA charts, and became #1 on the iTunes Electronic singles chart.
Catch Winterpark for an early show next Thursday the 21st of July at Dear Patti Smith gallery in Fitzroy, his first live performance in over a year. He will be joined by Susannah Legge (The Hampdens), who has leant her sweet sultry vocals to a number of the songs on the forth coming Sunday Morning and Dan West (Diafrix/Velure) for this intimate show.
