Queen Street Studio is proud to announce that applications are now open for the residency program “Play, Me”, which will offer emerging playwrights and directors the chance to work with Verity Laughton, Jo Turner and Cristin Kelly in October and November of this year.
This is a unique opportunity for emerging writers and directors to work in a collaborative and supportive environment with an experienced writer, director and a dramaturg as mentors.
The program is designed as an opportunity to hothouse a script that is in the early stages of development and will provide three writer/director teams with 15 hours of rehearsal space, a two-day masterclass, expert mentorship and the chance to showcase their work at an informal showing to peers and industry at the end of November.
Applicants must be emerging writers or directors in their first five years of practice and have an unproduced, original script that requires development and that is not scheduled for production prior to commencing the residency.

ABOUT THE MENTORS
DIRECTOR:
A director, writer and actor, Jo Turner is a graduate of Melbourne University (B.A/B.COM) and the L’ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques Lecoq. As a director he has particularly specialised in new work, both written and devised.
DRAMATURG:
Cristin Kelly is a dramaturg who hails from the United States. She holds an MFA in Dramaturgy/Theatre Criticism from the City University of New York and a BFA in Arts Administration from Brenau University. She currently runs The Australian Theatre Writers Project website, on which she published interviews with Australian playwrights.
WRITER:
Verity Laughton’s work has been produced in Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, the UK and the USA. It includes main stage adult dramas, a promenade community event, a musical, adaptations, plays for child and family audiences, as well as for dance, for puppets, for theatre of image and a ‘neutral script’.
