India, Poland, Mexico – all off the cards for Aussie travellers anytime soon. But that isn’t to say we can’t at least take some of our senses to these far-flung destinations. With Virtual Travel the trend of 2020, Intrepid’s fiercely local, day-tour-oriented Urban Adventures brand has launched numerous ticketed digital tours along that very idea, encouraging a different kind of adventure.
In an effort to support local guides around the world, and connect them with keen travellers looking to experience something new, Urban Adventures will be making full use of Zoom, with join-in and private classes trailing various activities like hands-on cooking classes, traditional art instruction, yoga sessions, and more.
These have been curated as interactive 1-2 hour sessions focused on highlighting the authenticity of each country. Numerous classes are available, with more to come, but we’ve listed some below to give you a taste of what to expect. Each will be priced at US$30 and below (per person).
Frida Kahlo Watercolor Painting Class
Learn about Mexican pop art and create a watercolor masterpiece inspired by the works of Frida Kahlo. With the guidance of a local artist in Mexico City, you’ll paint your own work of art by following simple steps and using materials that are easy to find online or in any art store. As you paint, you’ll learn about Frida’s life as an artist and worldwide feminist icon.

Yoga & Ayurveda Class
This online experience focuses not only on learning basic yoga moves, but on changing any myths you may have about yoga. Under the guidance of a professional yoga teacher in India, you’ll dive into the world of meditation as you learn about the history of yoga and Ayurveda and practice a few easy moves and breathing exercises.

Traditional Pierogi Cooking Class
Make authentic Polish pierogi from scratch with the guidance of a Krakow-based cook. You’ll learn everything you wanted to know about Polish culture, get to practice some Polish phrases, and uncover the secrets to making the perfect pierogi.
