Cry Club were crowned the most-played artists on triple j‘s Unearthed Radio last year for good reason. This dynamic punk pop duo are epitomised by ‘sweaty glitter’, reminiscent of their trademark glitter tears and the aftermath of their live shows; and have amassed a loyal and loud fanbase eager for more.
Jonathan Tooke and Heather Riley have been lining up their card for the past three years, putting out one EP in preparation for their upcoming debut album, God I’m Such A Mess.
Featuring fan favourites “DFTM”, “Robert Smith” and “Two Hearts”, this upcoming twelve track collection is the obvious culmination of relentless hard work and honing.
We caught up with the pair ahead of its release to chat about collaborating with Gab Strum (aka Japanese Wallpaper), the intricacies of releasing an album and to be walked through a few of their key songs.
