Exclusive Single Premiere: Duckboi “Going to the Beach” (2021)

Duckboi

Wollongong must have something in its waters because it keeps throwing up talented artists. Duckboi, the solo-project for Jack Lincoln is no exception. He is about to drop his latest surf-infused hypnotic song, “Going to the Beach”. We are excited to have the premiere of this short, fun and quirky tune ahead of its release tomorrow.

The lo-fi production and distorted vocals, a bassline which steers the ship, and instrumental shifts during the course of this two-minute song are a great vehicle for the simple lyrics. It’s a craftily assembled song, no doubt about it.

Duckboi gives us the inspiration for the song “I wrote this song spontaneously on our share house couch, just picked up the guitar sung the hook and that was it! Around the time I was listening to the Ornette Coleman ‘In all Languages’ Album, some of the more bizarre synth and guitar approaches translated to the song well. A song about quite literally just – Going to the Beach and not worrying about anything else- utter obsession.”

Lincoln, formally known as Ducks, has shared stages with the likes of The Vanns and Dune Rats. He studied at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, before setting down the rock and roll path, particularly the surf-rock genre. “Going to the Beach” was produced and mixed by Lincoln.

Completing the lineup for live performances are Zac Olsen (Synthesizers and Vocals), Connor Daly (Lead Guitar), Nicolas Serray (Bass) and Kieran Parker (Drums).
