Henry Cavill, the Man of Steel, the White Wolf himself, appears to be working on a project related to the Mass Effect universe.
Cavill shared a picture of himself on Instagram earlier today with the caption “Secret project? Or just a handful of paper with random words on it… Guess you’ll have to wait and see. Happy hump day to all. #HumpDay #Secrets”
In the picture, Cavill is holding a printed sheet of paper, but it’s too blurry to make anything out.

Enter the team at GamePressure, who used a program called Focus Magic to cut through the blur. What they found was that the body of the text appears to be a script outline, including the words Cerberus, Tali’Zorah, Geth and Reaper. Other sites, like IGN, have since used the same program to corroborate the results. Internet sleuths have further deduced that the text itself is a synopsis of Mass Effect 3 lifted straight from the game’s Wikipedia page. It reads:
“Following the events on Tuchanka and a failed coup by Cerberus to take over the Citadel, the quarians offer their support to the Alliance if Shepard helps them reclaim their homeworld, Rannoch, from the geth,” The Wikipedia page reads. “Assisted by a quarian, either Tali’Zorah or Admiral Daro’Xen, Shepard boards a geth dreadnought and rescues a captive geth unit, either Legion or a facsimile occupied by a geth virtual intelligence (VI), then disables the Reaper control signal over the geth.”
So what is Cavill hinting at? Has the long-gestating Mass Effect movie finally gotten off the ground? Will Cavill appear in the new Mass Effect game in pre-production at BioWare? Is he filming a TV spot for the upcoming Mass Effect Legendary Edition? We’ll find out in time. You can ask Cavill which is his favourite store on the Citadel on his Instagram.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC in May.
