The cornerstones of Kid Le Chat, David Wilson and Leo Moretti met in a microbrewery in Rio De Janeiro. They bonded over a mutual love of 80’s music such as Talking Heads, Tears for Fears and New Order, and set about creating their own modern twist on synth-pop.
Since then, they’ve recorded an album, released singles and hit the live circuit. More recently they have relocated to Brooklyn, NY, and have been busy recording a new EP. We’re thrilled today to be premiering one of the singles from the forthcoming EP, “It Was Never That Easy”.
“It Was Never That Easy” is one hell of a tune. Killer synths, swirling guitars and silky smooth vocals has us jumping up and down. It has multiple peaks, with some really great instrumental sections. They’ve paid homage to their musical heroes, with their own deft twist. It’s a winner, rewarding on first listen as well as with sticking on repeat. And hang around for the outro – that’s pretty special as well.
Wilson talks about how the song came to be put together: “This song came together right as the lockdown happened in NY in April 2020. Leo and I had already been working on the instrumental part when I had an idea for the lyrics. It’s basically the idea how you deal with expectations and frustrations, how you think you might be going about getting things done not turning out how you want.”
They have since added to the band, with the addition of Michael Sue-Poi and Ryan Work on bass guitar and Jesse Lewis on drums.
It is anticipated that the band will visit Australia when borders re-open.
Take a listen to “It Was Never That Easy” before its release tomorrow, 4th March 2021.
