Sad King Billy is the solo project of Julian Peet, a native of Perth in Western Australia. We are thrilled to be premiering his latest release “Bad Man” today, ahead of its official release. The track is off the upcoming Sad King Billy album, Mental Wealth, due to be released in 2021.
His songs explore the inner working of what makes us as human beings. He explores feelings, loneliness, fear and learning. With social isolation in the past year reaching its zenith, these themes have never been more in the spotlight than now.
As with his previous single, “Runneth”, “Bad Man” has a scene-setting intro, before the lead vocals and guitars kick-in. The track is driven by his golden lilting vocals, with a driving beat and sunny guitars. Some sweet harmonies elevate it to the next level.
Western Australia is a gold-mine for throwing up bands that do things their own way. It’s no surprise that acts such as Tame Impala, Pond and Methyl Ethel are modern geographical contemporaries. They share a spiritual commonality in content and style.
Mental Wealth is co-produced with Perth local Dan Carroll. Providing the visual content for the album is talented Melbourne 3D artist, Cody Roberts.
