“42 Years’, is the latest tune from Baltimore outfit Super City, and we are stoked to be premiering its video today.
The band was formed in 2014 by songwriters Dan Ryan and Greg Wellham. Since then they’ve dropped a self-titled EP, and their first LP, Again Weekend. These guys are the go-to for dance-rock and upbeat pop intertwined with an impeccable dress-sense.
Listening to their sophomore album, Sanctuary, I get throwbacks to vintage 80’s such as Tears for Fears and the iconic Prince. There is also more than the odd nod to the great Queens of the Stoneage.
“42 Years” is a great song – a ball of energy with just the right amount of guitars and some menacing fuzzy vocals. Let’s hope they get out to Australia sometime soon(ish) – it’s bound to be a fun show. Fans of The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys will dig this one.
Of the video, the band stated “The video for ’42 Years’ marries Macbeth with vintage Wall Street. A wise leader is overtaken by his underlings in this tale of corporate greed.”
Check out the video and enjoy the splendour of Super City and “42 Years”.
