We are thrilled to close out the week with the video premiere of “Grateful” from singer/songwriter Patrick James. A song born perhaps from the bleakness of Covid, it is a positive reflection of all those things we are grateful for.
James has been carving out a name for himself for the last decade or so. With six EP’s and a full-length album under his belt, he has toured the globe, headlining and also supporting the likes of Boy & Bear, The Paper Kites, Josh Pyke and many more.
“Grateful” showcases James in a stripped-back mode, with his voice and piano to the fore. “I’m grateful for the way that you love me every day“, he sings. If ever there is going to be a song with phones raised and lights beaming, this is the one.
The video is as striking as the song is beautiful. It was indeed a labour of love to create. They shot it at 5 am on a rooftop. As if 5 am wasn’t a labour of love enough, they had to carry the piano up three flights of stairs, with the aid of an Airtasker. It was worth the effort. The sun is rising, the ocean glistening and this beautiful song emerges from the rooftop.
The clip was shot, directed and edited by Gemma De Maria. Check it out. I love the intro.
