New Forspoken trailer gives glimpse of powers, fantasy world

Forspoken is one of a few brand new IP in the spotlight during today’s PlayStation Showcase.

Originally unveiled at the PS5 Showcase last November, this new Forspoken trailer plays a bit like a young adult novel. We have a plucky young protagonist named Frey, who hails from our own real-world. Frey is pulled across dimensions into a new world called Athia. There, her grand destiny is revealed. It honestly looks a bit like Control, with Frey’s powers including flight and what appears to be telekinesis. It honestly looks pretty technical, and certainly very pretty. We’re excited to see more as it comes to hand.

The trailer also introduces the character Cuff, a magical sentient bracelet that will guide Frey on her adventure. It also unveils the game’s major villain, Tanta Sila, Athias’ mad matriarch played by Janina Gavankar.

Forspoken is developed by Luminous Productions and published by Square Enix. It currently has no official release date but is expected to launch on PS5 and Windows PC in 2022.
