The brilliantly upbeat “Summerset Stunner” from Sydney pop-punk quintet Afterthought is bursting with sunshine and optimism. With classic indie guitars, a tight beat and soaring harmonies this is a track to celebrate love and friendship. This is the second single to be released from their forthcoming sophomore self-titled EP, to be released on the 22nd October, 2021. The lead single, “Homebound” was released last month.
“Summerset Stunner” is high-energy from the get-go. It might be a love song, but with frontman Mackenzie Day’s ebullient vocals and riffing guitars, it’s anything but soppy. “Summerset Stunner” is passionate and fun.
Of the track, the band said: ’Summerset Stunner’ is about wanting to tell someone that you love them but never finding the right time and fearing that you may never find that time.”
Afterthought formed in 2018, and have slowly and surely built their fanbase. They have shared a stage with the likes of Yours Truly, Closure, A Swift Farewell and Headstrong. Their last (and debut) record, the EP Full Circle was released in 2018, so this latest offering has been keenly anticipated.
“Summerset Stunner” will be available worldwide on Friday 15th October, 2021. In the meantime, enjoy our exclusive premiere.
