Mesmeriser is a punchy alt-rock powerhouse out of Sydney. They are passionate, talented, and with a wry smile, have been enjoying themselves on their latest EP which is about to drop, SOLD!. We are stoked to be premiering it today, ahead of its release tomorrow. Fans of The Strokes and Libertines should be able to draw an arc to this record.
The tracks on “SOLD!” are a heady breezy trip, a cornucopia of ripping guitars, big hooks and sweet melodies. There are some nostalgic sounds in there, along with gnarly guitars bringing into the present. It’s a cracking listen.
The EP follows the lives of three ‘corporate drones’ making their way in a call centre. Myles, from the band writes: “Not just any call centre, but the call centre of God, not only are their jobs on the line, but so are their souls… Numbers are down, tensions are up, as the drones attempt to sell the company’s ‘Salvation Plan’. Through their personas Mesmeriser navigate; over-indulgence, needless consumerism, gluttony and snobbery.
To celebrate the launch of the EP, Mesmeriser will be playing at Waywards on the 24th of April. You can be sure it will be a fun night out – they have plans! “We’re enlisting the help of our Friends Slim Jimz and The Causeway. We’re looking forward to bringing some pent up corporate stooge/post COVID energy to the gig!”. TIckets for the gig are available HERE
SOLD! was recorded at Yap Yap Studios in Sydney, with mixing duties undertaken by Oscar Sharah (Mel Blue). It was mastered by Ryan Schwabe.
