Kamilaroi/Tamworth singer/songwriter Freddie Bailey is on the rise. At only eighteen years of age, he has been winning hearts all over the country. He reached the top 24 in the 2022 editition of The Voice, and we are thrilled to be premiering his latest pop single, the dreamy “Want You To Want Me”.
Having wowed the judges and Keith Urban in particular, he had the courage and the skill to perform Keith’s hit “Wild Hearts” with the man himself. On “Want You To Want Me”, the aching want of desire for someone’s affection is gripping, heartfelt and bound to win over many more fans.
Freddie gives us his take on the track: “I feel like this song can be seen from two different perspectives. One of them being from the perspective of a person who’s been in love with someone for the longest time, hoping they might feel that same longing for them to be a part of their life. The other perspective being from a person who’s experienced that relationship. Left wondering if who they were with ever reminisces on the past and wants it back.”
The lyrics and Freddies vocals lead the way. The narrative lights the fire as the guitars build and swirling drums encapsulate the smouldering passion. The burning desire to be loved oozes from every pore of “Want You To Love Me”.
The track was produced and mixed by Ben Horsley, and mastered by Joe LaPorta (Sterling Sound).
Freddie might have found a larger audience via The Voice, but he has been building a fan base steadily since the age of 14 in his hometown of Tamworth. Naturally, the Tamworth Country Music Festival has been a favourite of his. Freddie was also selected for the NSW Talent Development Project (TDP). The program has nurtured many great artists over the years, including Human Nature, Sam Fischer, Angus and Julia Stone, David Le’aupepe (Gang of Youths) and more.
