It was packed to the rafters on Sunday night at the Hindley Street Music Hall as punters excitedly waited for the triumphant return of UK legends Bloc Party. Co-founders Kele Okereke on lead vocals and Russell Lissack on lead guitar were joined by Louise Bartle on drums and touring bassist Harry Deacon.
They played a generous and enthusiastic set including “Helicopter” and “Banquet”, naturally.
Four-piece all-girl Adelaide band Oscar the Wild were the openers. After quickly brushing away a few minor nerves, they launched into tracks from their debut EP: She’ll be Right. Lead singer Ruby Gazzola sure knows how to belt out a tune that makes everyone pay attention.
