What are ya? Yob or Wanker?
Well, either way, it’s time to roll your mind back 30 years and dust off your old Australian ’90s CDs in preparation for one of the most crazy, exciting and inappropriate bands in Australia’s history.
For the first time in 20 years, TISM are embarking on a (short) headline tour and Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney are the lucky few cities that will get to experience the ‘Death to Art Tour’, a mini-festival of sorts that will headline the one and only TISM in all their batshit glory.
With the release of two new songs and an album that is dropping on Friday the 4th of October, TISM’s resurgence into our psyche is overdue and much needed in these heady and uncertain times.
Latest single, “Death To Art” is the title track of the forthcoming album which will include 17 track, including – “TISM’s Last Will and Testicle”, “I Can’t Wait for my Generation to Die” and “C**ts v C**ts”.
If it’s not enough to see the masked mysterious Machiavellians in the flesh, the reunification of Machine Gun Fellatio will surely get your juices flowing. Having broken up nearly 20 years ago, the group are famous for their hedonistic shows (will we still see too much flesh?) and provocative songs like “Pussy Town” and “Muthafukka On a Motorcycle”.
2002’s “Paging Mr. Strike” is still one of the most eclectic, clever and brilliant Australian albums ever made. There have been calls for a reunion for years, so their appearance is highly exciting and rare.
Turn of the century Fremantle favourites, Eskimo Joe, will also be joining the tour. With their new single, “the first time”, reviving the band for another run, their show will surely cover the highly coveted discography that goes back to the beloved debut 1998 hit and EP, “Sweater”.
Ben Lee has seen a resurgence in recent years, not just with his 2022 album, “I’M FUN!”, but his Covid-influenced moniker of DJ Dadbod has been a hugely popular side-project for the beloved Australian singer-songwriter. Rewind 25 years ago and you probably wouldn’t go a day without hearing “Cigarettes Will Kill You” or “Nothing Much Happens” on the radio. His quirky and witty humour should be a great mix on a night of Australian reminiscing.
To start the night will be The Mavis’s. It’s a band you probably haven’t thought of for a long time, but the second you hear the opening strands of their 1998 hit, “Cry”, you’ll be like, “Oh yeah…them!”
This will surely be a fun few shows!
