The Shark FlexBreeze fan delivers exceptional cooling performance, whisper-quiet operation, and versatile functionality, making it one of the best fans available for indoor and outdoor use. After a few weeks of use during Melbourne’s recent attempt to emulate Queensland weather, this fan has kept me cool in the lounge room, out on the balcony, a few trips to work and overnight while I slept.
I’ve owned a Dyson fan for a few years now, and while it performs well, it’s loud and not great when you are trying to sleep. It also comes with a $100 filter replacement that feels ridiculously overpriced. In contrast, the Shark FlexBreeze fan stands out for its remarkably silent operation across all speed settings, making it the perfect replacement.
Design
Beyond its quietness, the Shark FlexBreeze offers impressive versatility. Its hybrid design allows it to function both indoors and outdoors. With the option to switch between corded and cordless modes, it’s ideal for those sweaty summer barbecues when you need a strong breeze.
The water misting attachment simply pops onto your garden hose providing an extra cooling boost. According to Shark, it lowers the temperatures by up to 5°C (obviously for outdoor use only).
The fan is highly customisable, with 12 different configurations, including pedestal, tabletop, and floor setups. The adjustable height and 180-degree oscillation ensure effective cooling in spaces of all sizes. The biggest surprise to me was the battery life.
On a full charge, I was able to get a full 23 hours of operation from this fan. This is generally unheard of with a fan this strong and super silent.
Setting up the fan was effortless, with all of the components perfectly designed to slot together in just a few clicks. The controls are straightforward, located on the fan’s top panel, with specific buttons for power, speed, and oscillation.
An LED display indicates the fan intensity and charging status. The unit also includes a magnetic remote control, which conveniently attaches to the back of the base for easy storage and access.
Performance
In terms of performance, the Shark FlexBreeze excels with its variety of fan speeds, smooth oscillation, and reliable cooling power. The misting option allows for a cool misting spray that provides a refreshing Compared to my older Dyson bladeless model, this fan is quieter, more versatile, and doesn’t require an expensive replacement filter.
There are five speeds to choose from, and it does slightly increase the sound, it’s nothing too distracting, especially when compared to the Dyson Bladeless fan.
While the base is a bit heavy, offering excellent stability, it can be slightly cumbersome to move. However, the sturdy build quality and thoughtful design outweigh this minor inconvenience. That being said, I was able to re-configure the fan into desktop mode and transport it easily to work, utilising the battery for a few days of use.
Verdict & Value
The Shark FlexBreeze is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a powerful, quiet, and adaptable cooling solution. While Dyson fans remain impressive alternatives, this model surpasses those older Dyson designs in terms of both functionality and value for money.
It can withstand the Australian humidity and the misting spray is a fantastic option for a quick cool-down when sitting outside. If you’re in the market for a feature-heavy and reliable fan, the Shark FlexBreeze is the perfect choice.
