Great Southern Nights is back with over 330 live gigs scheduled to be perform at a range of venue types across Sydney, Western Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and the Central Coast region, along with Orange, Byron Bay, Broken Hill, the Hunter Valley, Bathurst, Tilba and Tamworth.
Great Southern Nights is a collaboration between artists and venues; it provides artists with a platform to perform and allows music lovers to enjoy a diverse collection of artists ranging from indie and folk to more upbeat DJ sets.
Bringing exciting news for Newcastle and Sydney residents, Great Southern Nights have announced two new festival highlights due to the success of similar events last year.
Two gig trails have been added, providing patrons with an immersive festival experience. These trails involve free, non-ticketed gigs with non-stop entertainment both inside and outside the venues, encouraging guests to enjoy the experience of gig-crawling and live-music entertainment.
These trails utilise rooftops and feature sets performed by an eclectic mix of musicians, with a special highlight of the Hollywood Quarter trail in Sydney being Space is The Place Vol. 2, on the Paramount House Hotel rooftop, with the music events of the evening curated by esteemed Jono Ma (Jagwar Ma/Lost Valentinos).
All venues are within walking distance of each other, allowing guests to get the most out of this immersive experience. When walking between venues you are likely to come across circus-performers, buskers, jokers and more. It’s going to be a party to remember!
It was Newcastle’s turn last weekend, and this weekend we head to Sydney.
