New Music Discoveries 14th March: Baker Boy, BADASSMUTHA, Parcels, and more

We are already at the midway point in March, and this week we have added ten more tracks to our Discovery playlist on Apple Music and Spotify. Our track of the week goes to Baker Boy, with “PEACEKEEPER”, an electrifying new single from the Yolŋu artist.

It’s a high-energy pulsating track, that switches between Yolŋu Matha and English, and even has a smattering of Spanish thrown in. The video clip is also mesmerising, showcasing the complete artistry of Baker Boy.

“The positive reputation is still there, but I guess I’m getting into the more real side of things; some darker, grittier feelings, I’m letting that come out in my music more. Over the last couple of years, I’ve stepped out of what people want my music to be, and I’m just writing what I want to write. ‘PEACEKEEPER’ is me standing up and taking ownership but keeping that party vibe,”  says Baker Boy.

“Dizzy” is the new single from BADASSMUTHA – a Githabul, Migunberri-Yugumbeh, Gamilaroi woman and multidisciplinary artist based between Tulmur and Magandjin. “Dizzy”, a slice of pure pop fun, is the first track to be released from BADASSMUTHA’s forthcoming Silly Goose EP. The vibes are on point throughout, with a bright bold funk sound and powerhouse vocals. it’s a much needed blast of positivity. Bring on Silly Goose!

Fin JSP is the solo-project for Fin Power, from Liverpool band STONE. The band only dropped their debut album last year, and Fin has kept himself busy working on this solo project. The first single to be released is “Truth Be Told”, a beautiful and vulnerable acknowledgment of a friend who is the first to be called in a crisis. His debut album, Fang, will be released on the 4th of April, and Fin will be releasing a new single each Friday up until the album release. Give his Insta a follow for all the info.

Australian-based Canadian singer-songwriter Laura Lucas follows up her 2023 EP The Dreamer with new single “Reincarnation Song”. The single is the first taste of Lucas’ next project and the results are gorgeous. Full of warmth, heart and charm, “Reincarnation Song” is ‘all about the cyclical nature of existence’ and wanting to have ‘all the time in the universe with the people you love’. Simply put – it’s beautiful.

“Safeandsound” from Parcels is lush and vibrant, with gorgeous harmonies. It’s the first release from the band for 2025, in a year which is stacked with massive shows. They will be performing at Coachella, Red Rock Amphitheatre and the iconic Forest Hills Stadium.

It’s a big week for the much-loved Egoism, who have announced that their debut album, And Go Nowhere will be released on the 30th of  May. They have also released the single “New Friends”, another fine slice of indie-pop with their signature relatable lyrics. Pick your friends wisely, the band’s Olive writes: ‘New Friends is a cautionary tale. Tell your friends you love them, but for the love of god, hold them to at least some form of standards too. Everyone knows a friendship breakup can hurt just as much as any relationship break up, so learn from my mistakes and find some red flag-less drinking buddies. You’ll be rewarded in the afterlife.”

This week sees Cardiff four piece Part Time Signals releases their new EP, The Window. The EP was recorded back in February 2024 and serves as the precursor for their sophomore album which is due later this year. Track “Conspiracy Queries” sees the band embrace a grittier, more percussive sound, with the more ethereal vocal contrasting nicely against the grittiness of the instrumentation. The EP as a whole sees the band continue to progress and develop their sound, so there’s plenty for listeners to explore.

“Keep the Flame” is the recently released new single from award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mitch King. The track is the fourth to be released from King’s forthcoming 2025 album. According to King, the single ‘explores the mindset needed to stay resilient during tough times.’ Emotive and heartfelt “Keep the Flame” balances poignant lyrics with captivating guitar work. King will be playing a series of shows around Queensland throughout March, May and June. For more information visit HERE.

Also added this week we have “On Hold” – the second single from Melbourne producer and artist Luke Francis. “On Hold” sees Francis leaning further into the dance music genre, with electronic textures throughout. Atmospheric and delivered with subtlety and style the track brings to mind the electronic pop of the early 2010s and the likes of SBTRKT. It’s another strong release from emerging artist.

We’ve also added “Successful Bisexual”, a call to living with a lust for life from the fabulous Tamara & the Dreams. Make the most of everyday, no matter what is thrown at you. As Tamara says: “The antidote to grief is a lust for life.”
