Wolfgang Puck to open a restaurant at Sydney International Airport; Kitchen by Mike to follow

Famed Chef Wolfgang Puck, he who has catered the Oscars for the past 21 years, will be opening his very first Sydney restaurant, and it won’t be in the CBD or the inner-west, it will be part of the new City View precinct at Sydney International Airport. Titled The Bistro, the premium dining destination will be located at T1 International Departures along with a whole host of new venues, completing City View and bringing great change to what we’ve come to expect from Sydney Airport’s food offerings.

The Bistro is said to be a relaxed Italian trattoria-style dining experience, featuring gourmet pasta and wood-fired pizza, set to open in the coming months. It will be opening alongside four new food brands, including Benny Burger by Australia Chef Shannon Bennett (Vue de Monde), concept juice bar Joe & The Juice, a bespoke Heineken House by Heineken. Joining them will be none other than Kitchen by Mike, which has built up a dedicated following in Rosebery. This first-to-airport brand will be opening their outlet later this year.

As a gourmet burger outlet, Benny Burger will be using organic and wild-sourced ingredients to create such offerings as The Chang, a combination of Blackmore Wagyu Beef, a free range egg, and pickled beetroot.

As a dining precinct, City View will be a fresh face for Sydney International, with a vibrant atmosphere within the terminal, expanded seating areas, and close proximity to boarding gates. It forms part of the wider change at the airport, aimed at improving the flow of the terminal and passenger experience.

The City View precinct will be complemented by a new luxury shopping precinct showcasing a collection of 13 premium international brands opening in mid-2016.
