If you live in Sydney, visit Sydney, or read about the most insanely popular food in Sydney then you know where Mr Crackles is and just how strong of a hold they have had over the cheap-eats crowd across the city. For years now, the small Oxford Street store has been pumping out their weekly special and signature pork crackling rolls to meet high demand, and now it seems like they have finally expanded. The team behind Mr Crackles have opened up a fried chicken shop in Potts Point on the very easy-to-get-to Bayswater Road, titling it Thirsty Bird and fashion it as – of course – the ‘Mr Crackles of Fried Chicken’.
The menu is fairly simple, as is the case at Mr Crackles. You’ve got the choice between a Half Bird (4 pieces) or a Whole Bird (8 pieces), as well as several different types of burgers. There’s the Yankee Burger with grilled chicken, cheese, bacon, and pickles; the Southern Fried Chicken Burger with fresh slaw and special house; the Katsu Chicken Burger with Japanese crumed chicken, kewpie mayo, and tonkatsu sauce; and the classic Club Chicken Burger with grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, and tomato
A number of sauces are also available including Roast Chilli Sauce and Chilli Aioli, and then you have sides like coleslaw, mac ‘n’ cheese ‘n’ bacon, mash & gravy with chicken crackling, waffle fries, and buffalo wings.
Thirsty Bird are also on Suppertime so if you want their goodness delivered straight to your mouth we suggest getting on that asap.
Their website doesn’t have many – see none – details except address and contact but the logo is pretty great. Check them out HERE and on Facebook HERE
