Sth Central adds breakfast hours and introduces a fresh new menu (Melbourne)

outh Yarra institution Sth Central is now open for breakfast with a fresh and innovative menu, happy to supply Melburnians with their daily breakfast and coffee fix. With this new extension to their operations, they’ve also decided to revamp their lunch and dinner a la carte menu to further highlight their quality, seasonal produce.

Being the first proper restaurant by the Tommy Collins Group, the renowned caterers saw that transitioning into the breakfast scene is a necessary evolution for Sth Central: “The team’s goal for Sth Central was always to create a social and dining experience that transitioned from day to night, seamlessly,” says Group Director, Tommy McIntosh. “Our menus are always evolving to give a better idea of who we are, where we come from and where we are heading.”

Their new breakfast menu features classic dishes with a dash of Sth Central’s signature style like Central Porridge with smoked banana, coconut, brown sugar and dried raspberries; healthy breakfast originals like their Brekkie Salad with cauliflower, quinoa, pomegranate, kale, pepitas, labna and poached eggs; and an Omelette of pickled zucchini, peas, mint, feta, herb salad+ baguette.

In addition to the usual teas, coffees, smoothies, and juices for breakfast, those early-morning drinkers will also have access to Blood Marys, Mimosas, and Breakfast Martinis.

With the wisdom of chefs Nick Mahlook (Stokehouse, Stokehouse City) and Sam Hocking (Stokehouse, Ezard) Sth Central have collaborated to bring new and exciting dishes to the lunch and dinner menus, with the addition of an Inka grill to the kitchen, forging a unique flavour that’s sure continue the venue’s reputation in South Yarra. New additions include the Ribwich, which is a sandwich of beef short ribs topped with horseradish aioli and cosberg on ciabatta.

Dinner will see additions broken down into small, medium, and large plates, focused on sharing with mains like Roast Pork Belly with cauliflower puree and roast plums, and Slow Cooked Beef Short Ribs with horseradish gremolata, while smaller snack-style menu items include Southern Fried Chicken with nori salt and pickled green chilli, and Marinated & Smoked Mussels with saffron aioli and croutes.

Sth Central is located at 4 Yarra St, South Yarra. Check out their website for more information, menus and opening hours.
