Though he’s mainly been in Australia to film for Thor 3, Idris Elba has taken time out of his busy schedule to fly on down to Sydney for an event with Superdry. Interesting, right? It gets better. Before the award-winning British actor departs the harbour city he will stopping by recently opened Paddington nightclub Goodbar for a cheeky little DJ set, and entry is set at the very cost of free.
Since reopening at 11a Oxford St, the new iteration of Sydney’s legendary Goodbar has been shaped as a two-tiered nightlife entity, pushing back against the dreariness that the lockout laws have brought by operating as both a cocktail bar and an underground Berlin-meets-NYC nightclub. State-of-the-art lighting and sound (handled by Void Acoustics) has been driving the dancefloor at Goodbar since the beginning of this month, so Elba should be right at home showing off his deep love for house music. Not even Omar (comin’ yo) and Brother Mouzone could stop this party, especially when it’s powered by support sets from reliable DJs Nicky Night Time and Handles.
Goodbar will also be using the night to launch their new weekly “vinyl only” parties on the first floor (where the bar is), so if downstairs is too packed at least you’ll still be amongst some good tunes.
