The team behind successful contemporary Chinese brand Chef’s Gallery have just added to Chippendale’s Kensington St precinct in a big way, launching their very own dedicated duck restaurant Holy Duck!. Duck and other meats take centre stage at the quirky street food inspired diner-slash-burger joint, all showcased on a fusion style menu that looks to traditional Chinese roasts and BBQ.
Burgers, bun and pancakes make Holy Duck! as much grab-and-go as it is dine-in but it’s worth pulling up a table and taking a look at their massive menu, which includes rice bowl selections and roast cuts like crispy crackling roast pork belly with pommery mustard sauce, crispy fried shantung chicken with sweet and sour sauce, and signature duck served either roast or crispy. Smaller options include the popcorn chicken topped with a brown sugar glaze and toasted sesame, and lotus root chips with nori powder.
Burger fiends will want to pay attention to the roast holy duck burger (roast or crispy) with cucumber, spring onion, lettuce and homemade orange Hoisin sauce. There’s also the a crispy chicken burger with sriracha lemon kewpie and asian slaw, a 5-spice chickpea pattie with a veggie option, and a caramelised sweet and sticky BBQ pork jowl burger with apple chutney and coriander relish. Several pancake and bao options round out the “handheld” menu.
