The Woollahra Hotel unveils cocktail lounge Bar Moncur (Sydney)

Sydneysiders are well familiar with Bistro Moncur in Woollahra; the hatted french bistro occupying the upstairs area of The Woollahra Hotel has long been a dining go-to with food now overseen by renowned chef Guillaume Brahimi, who serves as the Group Culinary Ambassador for owners Public House Management Group. Recently, the brand extended to include a second Bistro Moncur in Mosman, but that’s not the only extension that’s been realised.

Reworking The Woollahra Hotel’s downstairs bar, Public House Management Group have now unveiled Bar Moncur, a cocktail lounge spin-off for the restaurant and a result of an extensive refurbishment that has seen the institution take on a new life.

Now an upmarket cocktail destination, the venue boasts leather boots and marble tables with splashes of emerald green, visuals which also nod the the artwork which boosts the atmosphere up at Bistro Moncur. Of course, the new aesthetic isn’t the only big change here, with Group Mixologist and 2015 AHA Bartender of the year Kurtis Bosley leading the charge behind the bar, crafting a drinks list that focuses on modernised classic cocktails and a premium liquor selection, offering patrons the likes of a Moncur Old Fashioned and a Hennessy Espresso Martini.

Guests can also choose a bespoke “bartenders pick” option which will have the staff tailor something towards individual tastes, a worthwhile selection for anyone who wants to hone their cocktail-food pairing, especially seeing as Brahimi has also put together quite the bar menu with the likes of Potato Galette with sauce de poulet; Moncur Salmon with sourdough, dill and crème fraiche; a Wagyu burger with gruyere, caramelised onions and dijon; and vanilla bean creme brulee with almond tuile. Magnifique.
