After being named fastest growing food chain last year, Guzman Y Gomez have designs on expanding their Mexican fast food beyond expectations come 2017, recently announcing at least 12 drive-through outlets to roll out across Australia over the next 12 months.
As reported by The Australian, the popular Mexican chain [which honestly deserves the praise] will build upon their current 82 venues in Australia and Asian with said drive-throughs and a number of other new openings, increasing the number by around 20 by the end of next year.
Guzman Y Gomez have already seen success with add-on drive-throughs further up the East Coast, though the new ones being planned will be purpose-built.
“People are becoming more educated on what they are eating with traditional fast food and now they don’t have to compromise on quality for the convenience of a drive-through”, Steven Marks, who is the brand’s Chief Executive, told The Australian. “Our kitchens are built are built for it; we just needed to put in a separate window. Imagine what we could do if this is set up properly”.
Steven Marks also indicates that the brand are hoping to expand to the United States in the next year, bringing some drive-through outlets to two cities at the same time, with the likelihood pointing to areas near college campuses (because of course).
We’ll keep you posted when the drive-through outlets start rolling out. Indicated by their social media, the next drive-through outlet (likely an add-on) to open is at Queensland’s Albany Creek as early as next week. To keep up to date follow them on Facebook HERE.
