In time for Australia Day, KFC have just released what is perhaps their greatest creation since the Golden Gaytime Krusher made it’s way onto the fast food giant’s menu; the creation: Lamington krusher. The limited edition shake is being added to their range to go head-to-head with it’s Golden Gaytime counterpart, with KFC encouraging Australians to vote for their favourite and decide on which Aussie classic shall best the other.
The Lamington krusher is, as expected, a shake that recreates the much-loved treat, with a chocolate coconut base and chewy chocolate bits topped off with a Lamington finger. On the other, the Golden Gaytime Krusher will remain it’s ever so flavoursome self with a creamy toffee and vanilla base and crunchy Golden Gaytime crumbs.
So far the introduce has seemed to strike a debate amongst two very passionate champions on either side of the line. You’ve got all-time Lamington fanatic and Deputy Mayor of Ipswitch Paul Tully sitting in one corner, quoted as saying “it’s a national icon, we need to get behind this classic treat and celebrate moments of indulgence the way they should be…with sponge, chocolate, coconut and cream”.
Then you’ve got the now-famous Jesse James McElroy, whose love for the Golden Gaytime has been well-documented over this year, and not only by the 20,000 likes that are credited to his dedicated Facebook page. “Together with all Australians, we can make the Gaytime very proud”, he was quoted as saying. “The combination of toffee, vanilla, choc and biscuit pieces is timeless, and there is no doubt in my mind Gaytime will claim its well-deserved title of Australia’s favourite treat”.
