Owner and hospitality entrepreneur, Alexandra Pyke, has returned to Melbourne to start her next venture, The Alley, Melbourne’s newest 35-seater cafe set to cater to the die-hard vegans and health-conscious diners. Doors will fling open in the first week of March, hoping to provide a sprawling green retreat for those in the CBD seeking healthy comfort food
Pyke has spent many years in New York, where she opened the popular The Fat Radish, partnered in the renowned oyster bar, The Leadbelly, and cold-pressed juice bar and vegetarian cafe, The Butcher’s Daughter. Her homecoming no doubt channels what she learned abroad and offers something that’s still not as common as it should be in Melbourne.
The planned menu includes signature house made burgers, such as their Maple Bacon Burger with smokey paprika aioli, as well as gluten-free pasta dishes like the Mac’n’cheese with coconut bacon and crispy kale. Alongside options of filling salads like the Fiery Kelp noodle salad, the menu also offers acai bowls, smoothies and cold pressed juices.
There will be seasonal ‘grab and go’ options for the Melburnian in a rush, as well as offering the choice to enjoy a long lunch in this 35-seater cafe with a glass of craft beer or bio-dynamic raw wine from the drinks list.
