Food and wine lovers are being well catered for this month as Noosa Food & Wine Festival returns to the sunshine coast, bringing with it a stacked program of events spread across two festival villages, one at Noosa Main Beach and the other in “The Woods”. Top local restaurants will be getting involved in the multi-day festival, which runs from 18th to 21st May, with over 45 visiting chefs from across the country head along to make this the festival’s biggest year yet.
More than 50 wineries and 100 food producers will be showcased across the few days, many taking part in signature events that range everything from a the opening and closing cocktail parties to pop-ups from other cities and intimate dinners from internationally renowned chefs.
“We are thrilled to announce our jam-packed program of events for this year’s festival, which showcases the breadth and depth of Australia’s best chefs, winemakers and producers”, said Festival Director Maria Crews. “The festival is a mixture of fun, relaxation and pure enjoyment as well as good food and wine – all in one iconic destination”.
A major draw will be The Beach Tipis set up on Noosa Main Beach, where both the opening and closing cocktails parties will take place along with other events, brunch and lunch offerings, and even early morning yoga. This will sit alongside a pop-up from the renowned Stokehouse, with teams from both the Melbourne and Brisbane venues heading up to create a culinary experience under the stars.
An essential pick of the program is Sound of White presenting “The French Saloon” on the beach, curated by chef Ian Curley and his team to bring the one-hatted Melbourne restaurant and shape it to the beachside location with an evening of fine dining matched with wines from the Sound of White Vineyard in Marlborough, New Zealand.
Other events bound to kick major goals for the festival include Noosa’s iconic Hasting Street hosting a special long lunch with matching wines, getting all of the strips restaurants involved; the “Make Peace with Wine” event which will take guests to a private island off the coast of Noosa for an immersive experience with food from Matt Stone and wines from Jo Barrett of Oakridge Estate Winery; an intimate dinner for just 12 people at Wasabi, put on in collaboration with internationally renowned chef Sat Bains; and a special “Food Safari” of Noosa.
Over at the other hub, The Woods, guests will find that the space has been transformed into an expansive wine and produce village, hosting more than 50 of the country’s best wineries with a whole heap of tasting experiences paired up with goods from cheese makers, saluministi, and more. The dedicated Sticks Wine Bar will be the spot each evening for the guests to watch the sun go down over the Noosa river, glass of wine in hand of course.
