BL Burgers has opened their first Western Sydney shop in Parramatta

If you live in or around Parramatta, you’re diet just got so much harder to maintain. The granddaddy of Sydney Burger chains, BL Burgers, is just about ready to open their very first Western Sydney venue, after finding massive success in locations like Darlinghurst and Bondi. A Bar Luca spin-off, known for their incredibly unique and often-imitated-never-duplicated Blame Canada burger amongst others, BL Burgers has become one of the most recognisable names in Sydney’s casual eats category, blasting to the forefront of the overcrowded burger scene with reliable, consistent quality and indulgent weekly specials.

This opening marks another big win for Western Sydney, as some of the city’s finest burger chefs have looked to the west in recent months. We saw it last year when Wakeley received a gracious gift from Jovan Curic in the form of Superior Burger, then when Penrith welcomed Burger Head. In addition to others like Burger Project around the corner in Parramatta’s new V by Crown building and the imminent arrival of Butter (a fried chicken joint although they make a mean fried chicken sandwich), BL Burgers joins a fresh crop of businesses giving Western Sydney’s food scene a very overdue shake-up.

Blame Canada.

The menu at BL Burgers Parramatta is consistent with the other locations – although there will be an exclusive version of their loaded fries – featuring six signature burgers including the classic cheese, BL beef burger, vegetarian chickpea & kumara burger, and the unforgettable blame Canada. Any burger can be given some extra muscle with various add-ons (or “hacks”) including extra American cheese, extra BL beef patties, hash browns, streaky bacon, Westmont sliced pickles, a deep fried mozzarella pattie, liquid cheese, tomato, and a range of sauces.

Then there are the snacks, ranging from said loaded fries and buffalo chicken wings to house cut sweet potato wedges (with chipotle aioli) and sticky lamb riblets (with smokey bbq sauce).

And of course we expect there to be a whole heap of exciting weekly specials rolling out once the new shop settles into a groove, joining the Bondi and Darlinghurst locations where previous one-offs have included the recent Star Wars-themed “Return of the Chedi” and the “Don’t Be Jelly” (similar to a Blame Canada but with red currant, crunchy peanut butter, and caramelised onion jelly).

In terms of location, BL Burgers have scored big time. The store is located in Parramatta’s busy Centenary Square opposite Jamie’s Italian and right next to the area’s instantly recognisable fountain. It’s a couple of minutes walk from the station (or Westfield Shopping Centre). The venue itself, while small with a modest space reserved for seating, isn’t entirely difference from the other BL Burgers, in that a huge and vibrant graffiti mural is highlighted by plenty of natural light. The biggest different is that there are now two in-the-table arcade machines, which the BL team purchased from Milk Bar by Cafe Ish.

BL Burgers Parramatta will officially open from midday on Saturday 13th May.
