After building a passionate following with their Newtown store, Sydney’s beloved T Totaler, purveyor of hand-blended tea, has opened up a little bit closer to the heart of town, securing a small but impressively designed space in The Galeries. Opening up opposite Incu the purveyors of locally grown artisan tea have lined the new bright and cosy store with tea tubes and jars, looking like an ultra-modern apothecary that so happens to smell like a tea enthusiasts dream.
Award winning architect and artist Lucy Humphries has worked with founder Amber Sunderland to craft a tea bar inspired by organic lines and natural textures, sporting a polished look with white stone bench tops and three meters of custom built display racks, for those aforementioned tea test tubes which have been locally designed and made by locals Studioenti. Those tubes sit alongside jars of loose leaf tea including sticky native chai, after dinner mint, coconut lemon splice, and their very popular french earl grey blend.
On the retail side of things, T Totaler also displays a healthy selection of beautifully made tea pots, local ceramics and gift packs, managing to stock a lot across a very small area of The Galeries.
“We’re continuing to change the way people think about tea with this new venture”, explained Sunderland. “Tea should be enjoyed and savoured, and we can achieve that even with our busy lifestyles. At The Galeries, our signature tea lattes, sparkling tea and expertly brewed hot and iced tea are all available exclusively to go”.
And changing the way people think about tea should be pretty easy when they have French Earl Grey Chocolate Tea Lattes on the menu, topped up with Persian fairy floss with any type of milk (soy, almond, whole, etc). Grab a cup of this on-the-go and pair it with one of their vegan chocolates, offered exclusively in collaboration with Bakedown Cakery, and consider yourself in-love. The 100% Australian cocoa chocolates have been infused with native botanicals and tea, presenting flavours like rose petals + native mountain pepper; wattle seed caramel + Murry River salt; and native lemon myrtle + blue pea flower + ginger.
