Let’s be frank here; some of the most famous city’s in the world cannot seem to escape the tendency for people to pigeonhole and stereotype. Certain features come to define a destination’s image to outsiders, a label that’s only broken once people actually experience and explore beyond the surface traits. Take Las Vegas for example; hedonism, indulgence, diva residencies, epic pool parties, and most of all cheap buffets and the fattier kind of American foods. Sound about right? Nope; dive into the city and you’ll notice that there are much more refined elements to Vegas life, particularly when it comes to gastronomy and wine experiences.
The city has such pull that it now boasts one of the world’s largest collection of celebrity chefs, helming world-class restaurants alongside Master Sommeliers. The so-called “entertainment capital of the world” also contains plenty of modern farm-to-table dining experiences with chefs who are committed and determined to highlight local produce (yes, you can still find some quality farm-fresh ingredients despite the city being surrounded by the desert) using various techniques.
This is why the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is in Sydney this week.
Seeing as Australia is one of the biggest markets for Vegas tourism, they’ve brought down Roy Ellamar, renowned Executive Chef of Harvest by Roy Ellamar at the famed Bellagio and teamed him up with My Kitchen Rules remi-finalist and cookbook author Jordan Bruno to help feed Sydneysiders, for free.
Ellamar and Bruno recently linked up in Vegas and collaborated on a dish that is a strong push away from $10 and greasy fast-food burgers, highlighting the city’s culinary scene. That dish draws on Ellamar’s Hawaiian history and will be served up over the next two days from a Las Vegas food truck in Circular Quay, alongside a special dessert (it’s best kept secret). Just rock up to the truck today or tomorrow during the below times and grab your free lunch.
If you need extra motivation to head along just know that they’ll be a pretty good chance on winning a trip for two to Las Vegas, a competition entered by simply posting a picture of “your Las Vegas Food Truck experience” on social media with the hashtag #VegasAUS. The prize includes return economy flights with Delta Air Lines, four nights’ accommodation and dinner at Harvest by Roy Ellamar.
Free lunch and an easy way to win a sweet holiday to Vegas. Not even the weather can kill that vibe.
